Symptoms of Insomnia -10 Common Signs

Symptoms of insomnia can be a little more subtle than the obvious “I can’t sleep”.

Insomnia can come in a variety of forms. For example some are unable to reach the deep dreamless sleep where the brainwaves slow down to 4 or less hertz per second. This deep dreamless sleep is of utmost importance for restoration, not only physical but mental and emotional as well.

Others may wake up repeatedly during the night, disturbing the normal cycle from light sleep (dream phase) to deep sleep (dreamless phase) The person may not remember waking up during the night when they get up the next morning.

And then we have those who get up so early in the morning they never really complete the natural, normal sleep cycle which is crucial for our physical and mental wellbeing.

So. Insomnia can be a little harder to spot than most believe…

Here are 10 symptoms that may be connected to insomnia:

How long you have been having trouble sleeping is also important in determining how severe the insomnia is, and also what could have caused the problem.

Remember, humans are creatures of habits and what may start as insomnia due to a very stress full event can become a chronic case of insomnia.
